Divine Wisdom is Integral to Fathering Success. Part 1.

Fathers would agree that to raise children to be proud of in this day and age is challenging, to say the least. Without prejudice to race or continent, proof of lawlessness abounds: in Newspapers and Magazines, on Television newscasts, Radio programs, the Internet and especially on the streets. The strength of our moral fibre, and what legacies are being passed on, are questionable: a gang of men [even boys] rape a defenceless female and audaciously post a video clip of the dastardly act on the internet for all to see; a black widow kills successive husbands to appropriate their wealth; a hacker breaks into the private space of companies or individuals to expose their secrets for financial gain; a teenage prostitute uses her body as a commodity to make a living; sometimes the parent gives up the child at the behest of enticing reward promised by money-wielding pimps; children, teenagers and young adults are kidnapped and trafficked for prostitution, slavery, and harvesting of body parts. Why has the dearth of mentors, the absence of strong role models, been the major cause for prisons worldwide to be filled with boys and girls, men and women? Why does intolerance of cultural, ethnic, racial and religious differences result in war, enslavement and displacement of whole communities, turning them to refugees in other countries, sometimes in their own?
Truly, as prophesied, darkness has covered the earth, 'and deep darkness the people' Is.60:2. I believe these are streams of weakness and wickedness; that degenerating moral, social and cultural values are the result of weak family units, the consequence of the failure of fathering. I am convinced that every breakdown in society is due to a breach in divine order, things are contrary to what the Scriptures prescribe as God’s will for His creation. However, the debilitating situation prevalent in many communities worldwide can be reversed. A return to God's prescriptions will breed 'good' fathers and restore nations to His original plan. God declares a thing as ‘good’ when it fits His plan, just like at creation.
He who instituted the family, and appointed the man its head, is able to give wisdom to be effective at his divine assignment to make positive impact on families, communities and nations. It begins with divine illumination on His purpose for fathering, the renewal of the minds of leaders of family units. While learning from the previous one, every next generation must make its choices based on wisdom mined from meditation on the word of God. As Jesus said to His disciples, it will have built its house on the rock Mt.7:24. Fathers need all the help they can get; instruction and wise counsel. He who meditates day and night on God's word is guided on the righteous path to prosper at every endeavour Ps.1:2-3. The hearts of fathers need be turned back to children Mal.4:6, that the cycle of weakness and wickedness be broken.
Wisdom for successful fathering is not the wisdom of this world which corrupts Ezek.28:17, is deceitful 1Cor.2:4, sensual, reeking of selfish ambition, promoting pride, strife, confusion Js.3:15-16, and foolish 1Cor.3:18-19. Rather, divine wisdom guides into all truth, it supplies the answer to every question, in every situation, and the solution to every problem, for it emanates from an understanding heart Prov.8:5. Your spirit is empowered with a ‘glorious inner strength’; love is the motive for all you do, having experienced the love of Christ, a love too great to fully understand. Your roots in the love of God keep you strong and help you to do fathering right because you are filed with the fullness of God Eph.3:16-19. How is this wisdom found? By enablement of the Spirit of Christ who makes His home in your heart, by faith, teaching and reminding you of His word Col.3:16.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me to be a good father, open my heart and renew my mind that I may become a steward worthy to hear the words, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant…’ Mt.25:21. In Jesus’ majestic name I ask.

Declaration: In the name of Jesus, and by the super-abounding grace of God, like a tree planted by the rivers of water, I bring forth fruit in season, and prosper at fathering all my children. Thank You, Jesus.
